Warning: Strong Currents

Feb 24, 2019    Phillip Ward

Phillip Ward brought the teaching this morning on the book of Jude, verses 17-25. False teaching is everywhere and we in the church are warned to guard against such creeping into the church. Phillip said," we are to safeguard ourselves, save others, and remember we are secured always." God always speaks truth and that truth is in the Bible. False teaching is often disguised as something that appeals to our sense of entitlement. We are to keep our focus on God's will for us, and that is to become more and more like Jesus. We are to focus on God's great love for us. Jesus was not worldly, not selfish, completely obedient to the Father, loving people and living before people who God is, and what He offers to us. We do not recognize how needy we are. Worse yet, we do not recognize the enemy of our souls.

We are to focus on the return of Christ. Phillip said, "If you stay ready you don't have to get ready". When Christ returns it will be in the twinkling of an eye, so quick there won't be time to repent of what we are doing. We must do that today, right now, and to be actively telling others every chance we get. By showing lost people the love God has for them we can bring a lost one back. We must have mercy on those who doubt. We are being kept by God who is able to protect us from the evil one and to take us safely home to be with Him. Our true home is in heaven, earth is not our home. Let us serve this week with new urgency as we minister to lost people.
